About The Race

This started with commentary I couldn't keep up with.

Watching a race, commentary would casually drop a reference to something from years back — a corner, a collision, a season that turned on one lap — and I'd have no idea what they meant, and no way to explain it to whoever I was watching with. Looking it up afterward never really helped either. What you'd find was a results table: who finished where, fastest lap, points scored. None of that was ever actually what I wanted to know. It was the incident. The pass. The specific moment the race actually turned on — which a grid of numbers never tells you.

That's what this site tries to be: the version of a grand prix that isn't just who won, but what actually happened — the move, the mistake, the moment — told as a story instead of a scoreboard. Every race in our archive includes the race narrative, key results told in prose, the championship context, and a look at the world that week, because a race at Imola in 1994 means something different when you know what was happening in the world that spring.

What we cover

We focus on Formula 1 for now, covering races from across the sport's history — from the very first World Championship race at Silverstone in 1950 to the present day. Our aim is to expand the archive continuously, adding new races and deepening existing entries over time.
